I've gone back and forth with this idea. I hope people know how hard it is for most photographers to "give up" their images to their clients. I know this is a standard practice for wedding photographers but not typically for Portrait photographers. I will admit this is how I got started with doing portraits. I offered all images on a CD for a embarrassingly low price just to get my name out there and because I didn't have a website or way to sell prints. I've gone back and forth with the idea of offering an archived disc and even did an anonymous survey awhile back to see what people would pay.
Now I am considering offering the option to download original images after finalization of the portrait session. It wouldn't be all the images most likely 10-15 favorites from a session or a number at my descretion based on the number of final images. The client would be able to select the favorites then those images would be available for download either as a package or as individual images. I am considering pricing these at or around $25 each with a minimum download order of $250. I feel this is fair and comparable to what is out there among photographers who do offer archived or downloadable original images with copyrights. I would just hope that the person would then be referring new clients to me as a result. I hope to get some feedback on this blog post. Let me know what you all think. Would you pay $250 for 10 original full size images from your portrait session? Or do you prefer to pay the $55 sitting fee and ordering prints from my site?

New Features: Gallery Reminders & Client Access
JEM Imaging is now going to send email reminders when your gallery is set to expire. This will help make sure you order prints in a timely manner and will remind you if you have forgotten to order prints. The galleries will be available for ordering for 2 months after you have been given first access. If you need more time please let JEM Imaging know and you can get an extension.
JEM Imaging is changing the way people can access galleries. In a way to somewhat make the process more exclusive and private we have enabled a client access code when visiting the Client Access page of the website. This will also prevent anyone from viewing your photos before you have. We wish the client to be the first ones to view the galleries then friends and family can follow.
The code is pretty simple. The hint is right on the page. If you know the first name of the person you are wishing to view photos of then you will be able to access their page. For example: if Katie has a gallery that you wish to view simply enter the code: katiegallery into the access code space provided. All you do is add the word 'gallery' after the first name (no spaces) and you are in. If you have further questions please do not hesitate to email or respond to this blog message.
Thank you for your business. JEM Imaging appreciates any feedback you can give on any new features or any suggestions for new features.

New Print Package Options
JEM Imaging is pleased to announce some new package options. Now with your portrait session you can build your package within the shopping cart. I have created several options for prints and all you have to do is drag and drop your images into the print sizes. I plan to offer more packages including ones that feature the Kodak Metallic paper that is offered. If you are not familiar with Metallic Paper here's a brief description:
Kodak Metallic paper
Kodak Professional Endura Metallic paper offers a unique pearlescent surface that will make your images really pop. Flesh tones look natural, details are crisp and colors are beautifully saturated. Endura Metallic paper offers natural looking flesh tones, sharp details and beautifully saturated colors. Plus, it is resistant to tearing and curling without any additional lamination. This paper uses a patented combination of film and laminate layers resulting in striking three-dimensional images on an ultra-bright background. You really have to see this paper to appreciate it.

Domain Down
My domain "jemimaging.com" is still down. Who knew it would take 3-5 days to transfer it from one company to the other. In the mean time I am asking my clients to use www.jemimaging.zenfolio.com to access my website. I deeply apologize for the confusion and inconvenience this has caused.
I plan to offer some sort of discount on prints when all this is over.

Website Now Posted
Well the new site is officially in use right now. There are still a couple things that need to be fixed. Apparently switching hosts isn't as easy as one would think. Turns out my domain holder isn't a "registrar" so I may have to move it so that I won't have to have a link to my new site. But until then everything is on the new site now. I am impressed with Zenfolio so far.
